NAMIBIA & BOTSWANA
A 26-Day Self-drive Safari Camping Trip
June – July 2018
A Namibia & Botswana Self-drive Camping Safari Expedition
Sossusvlei, Spitzkoppe, Palmwag, Etosha, Caprivi, Chobe, Victoria, Savuti, Moremi and Okavango.
A 4 week adventurous self-drive safari camping trip through Namibia and Botswana and a day-trip to the Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe, together with my son Dio and Stan, one of my best mates at university, a long, long time ago, in June & July 2018.
Namibia’s beauty is simply unbelievable; you can drive hundreds of kilometres and not get bored for a single second. Botswana’s wilderness is beyond spectacular and you drive straight into the best of National Geographic and Animal Planet… Both countries have touched me deep in my heart and I’ll certainly be back!
Enjoy the journey!

Namibia & Botswana Destinations
Introduction
I started planning almost a year in advance, which is really necessary if you want to get a camping spot in some of the popular national parks and game reserves that I was planning to visit, as we would be travelling during high season. The final itinerary was the result of months and months of late night online research through websites such as www.SafariTalk.net, www.TripAdvisor.com and www.4x4community.co.za; I don’t know how many hours and sleepless nights I’ve spend on these sites, but it was a lot…!
By the time I had finalised the detailed route and all camping spots I could literally visualise almost the entire trip… The result was what I believe pretty good and in hindsight there is very little I would have liked to do differently.
Al together we drove about 6,500 kilometres, mostly on gravel and sand. We spend our first and last night in Windhoek in an Airbnb and the other 24 nights we camped, at 16 different places. If you are interested in more details please let me know, I’m happy to share!
