Zambezi Region (Caprivi Strip)
Explore the lush Zambezi Region, where the Kavango River attracts hippos, crocodiles and a remarkable diversity of birdlife.
Sossusvlei & the Namib Desert
Witness the world’s tallest sand dunes at sunrise in Sossusvlei, where oryx and other desert-adapted animals roam across the glowing red sands.

Cultural Encounters with the San and Himba
The San people became widely known through the 1980 film The Gods Must Be Crazy. Although times have changed, the Ju/’Hoansi San have preserved many aspects of their ancient culture. During our visit you will learn about traditional tracking, hunting techniques, and the deep knowledge of nature that allowed them to survive in harsh environments for thousands of years.
We also spend time in an authentic Himba village, where the Himba’s distinctive ochre-covered appearance and pastoral lifestyle offer a rare glimpse into a culture that has changed little over generations.

Meet Your Guide – Toine IJsseldijk
My journey into travel, wildlife, and photography began in 1988, when I first travelled to Southeast Asia as a biology student studying primate behaviour in Gunung Leuser National Park in northern Sumatra. Living and working in the rainforest, observing wildlife and spending long periods in remote environments, profoundly shaped how I look at the natural world.
I later earned a Master’s degree in animal behaviour in the Netherlands. Rather than pursuing an academic career, I chose a different path: exploring the world’s wild places and sharing them with others.
Since 1990, I have worked for many years as a professional guide and expedition leader, organising and leading nature and adventure expeditions across remote parts of Asia and beyond. These experiences taught me how to travel slowly and attentively, with respect for wildlife, landscapes, and the cultures of the people who live there.
Photography gradually became a natural extension of that way of travelling. Rather than chasing dramatic images, I am drawn to moments that unfold naturally — the quality of light, the quiet presence of wildlife in its habitat, and the relationship between people and their environment.
On this Namibia safari, I combine that background in wildlife, guiding, and photography to help you experience Namibia’s landscapes, wildlife, and cultures in a deeper and more meaningful way.
Experience & Background
- Over 30 years of experience organising and leading nature expeditions
- Master’s degree in animal behaviour
- Former professional guide and expedition leader
